Heavily impacted industries lead healing as Colorado joblessness asserts fall

New weekly claims for Colorado unemployment benefits slipped below 6,000 for the first time since mid-March last week, as sectors that were hit hardest by coronavirus shutdowns have continued a steady two-month recovery.

Colorado Department of Labor and Employment got 5,837 claims for regular unemployment benefits during the week that ended Saturday — not counting new coronavirus-related benefits created by the federal government this year, down 9.5% from 6,450 the previous week. That is the lowest…
